Ultem®

High strength plastic with outstanding electrical and high service temperature properties

Ultem® (polyetherimide) has a high mechanical strength in connection with a good chemical and heat resistance (operating temperature up to +170 °C), good dimensional stability and creep resistance. Its unique torque strength permits the economical substitution of machined fabricated small parts from steel.

Ultem® has outstanding electrical properties, with one of the highest dielectric strengths of any thermoplastic material. 

ULTEM® MATERIAL OPTIONS

Utem® 1000 – Unfilled or unreinforced 1000 series plastics are translucent amber in color and combine exceptional mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties.
 
Glass-Filled Utem® 2300 – The addition of glass fiber reinforcement in the 2000 series, enhances tensile strength, stiffness, and overall dimensional stability.

Tech Tip – Ultem® is often used instead of polysulfone when superior strength, stiffness, or temperature resistance is required.

SABIC Innovative Plastics ULTEM Polyether Imide Materials

PEI has high mechanical strength and rigidity, very good hydrolysis resistance, dimensional stability and a relatively high long-term service temperature.
30%glass-reinforced which provide even greater rigidity and improved dimensional stability while maintaining many of the useful characteristics of basic PEI.  
PEI ESD is truly dissipative plastic product for use in high temperature applications.
Ultem® 1000 is a thermoplastic polyetherimide high heat polymer designed for injection molding processing.
