PSU / PPSU

High temperature thermoplastic material with outstanding impact resistance that is autoclavable

PPSU (polyphenylsulfone) (Radel® R) is a high temperature thermoplastic material with outstanding impact resistance. Radel® R is resistant to hot water and steam and can withstand repeated cycles in a steam autoclave. FDA compliant grades of PPSU are available. For PPSU chemical resistance view our chart.

PPSU MATERIAL OPTIONS

Radel® R-5500 – is a general purpose extrusion grade of polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) offering exceptional hydrolytic stability and better toughness than most commercially available high temperature polymers.

PSU(Polysulfone) – is a high temperature, amber colored, semi-transparent plastic material with good mechanical properties. PSU is resistant to degradation from hot water and steam and it is often used in medical and food preparation applications where repeated sterilization is required..

Tech Tip – PPSU is often used instead of polysulfone or Ultem® for medical applications when superior toughness or extended service life with repeated autoclave cycles is desired.
